The use of social media isn’t rocket science. It just isn’t. I have a theory that because the term is so difficult to pin down, people run from it. If clunky buzzwords were the norm then “social interaction online” possibly should have been the words to use.
Anyway, the point is that it’s simple. Perhaps not always easy - but still simple. It’s about talking. Clearly in day-to-day communication it’s important to know who you want to talk with, what you want to get across, who you want to listen to and how you’re going to listen. This is where the strategy comes in. Yes, there will be some necessary tactical measures at times, and these may impact upon the strategic direction but in this case as in many others the old adage still stands - if you fail to plan you plan to fail.
So this blog is being written with this in mind: Keep it simple. Have a strategy. And good luck.

The Cluetrain Manifesto. There are some real 'Aha' moments in this book. Some people have taken their worship of The Cluetrain Manifesto (now a decade old) to ridiculous heights and I'm not one of them, but it's still a good read. Get down and read it like it's 1999. Updated.
